One of our mainstays here at Madison Ave Couture has always been Hermès. The French luxury fashion house’s products speak for themselves - we admire the distinctly high quality of the leather, timeless style, and French elegance.
The luxury fashion house has been crafting leather since 1837 and is celebrating their 175th anniversary with an exhibition called Leather Forever that will take place this spring in London. The exhibit will showcase Hermes’ equestrian history.
“Hermès was founded as a harness and saddle-maker in Paris, 175 years ago this year and ever since, our craftspeople have worked to tame leather into many different extraordinary and beautiful objects,” said Thierry Outin, London-based managing director of Hermès Britain.
While we are incredibly excited about seeing into Hermès’ past, we are even more stoked that Leather Forever will feature current Hermès artisans who will be crafting leather goods on site! While these won’t be for sale, Hermes lovers rejoice: Hermes has created four bags available for purchase, just for the exhibit, and all proceeds will go toward the Royal Academy of Arts.
In the meantime, while we dream of those bags (New York to London is just a short flight away…), we’ve got some of our own Hermès bags and accessories for you to lust after…enjoy! (our favorites pictured above!)
And for those already in London or lucky enough to be traveling there, here is the exhibit info:
